A foreword from the founder and editor-in-chief of Red Ink Coffee.
When I quit my job in the editorial department of Poland's largest daily newspaper, I was determined to set up a publishing house and continue writing.
I set up a café and a bookshop. There, I organized many meetings with writers and wrote posts for social media.
A decade later, I'm back to what I love: writing. And I'm continuing what I love, perhaps even more: coffee and teaching about it.
Welcome to Red Ink Coffee!
The name of this site refers to the name of a would-be publishing house, and now defunct coffee shop and a bookshop — a small, local, socially responsible business that has become legendary. When it existed, specialty coffee was still a hipster novelty. For many, it was a place of breakthrough, at least in coffee or reading life.
My journey with coffee has taught me many valuable lessons. I've encountered both challenges and moments of pure ecstasy. I've experienced everything from bad to excellent, from the astringent, tart, vinegary flavors to the outstanding, 9 plus, ones. I've met thousands of nice people and had many rivals. I've encountered thousands of coincidences, worries, and concerns, as well as many pleasures and warm memories. With this rich baggage of experiences now here, I combine my passions: to write, to teach, and to drink coffee. For me, that's paradise.
The main element of the Red Ink Coffee website is the blog. We're building an awesome editorial team to publish articles regularly, but we're not rushing to beat the clock or compete with other news outlets. We hope that the content we present will be useful to you. Specifically, the section on education - written for those working with coffee at any stage of the supply chain, as well as for those just entering the world of coffee.

Red Ink Coffee will differentiate itself from other platforms and coffee blogs by focusing on social and political issues. We have expressive views, and we accept that not everyone will like them. You can heckle us and comment unfavourably, but we won't change our views. We can discuss things on the merits and enrich each other with new perspectives.
In addition, we present futurological texts. Our goal is to forecast what may await coffee and analyze whether and how certain processes need to be intensified or prevented.
We will draw on the thoughts of great thinkers and scientists, publish clashes of ideas, and comment on world affairs, including those that on the surface may seem unrelated to the world of coffee. We want to write about things that are not obvious or easy to understand. But more than once, we will also remind people of things that are obvious and perhaps boring, but not known by everyone, or misperceived as inconvenient or threatening.
Social, political and cultural issues will be described. We speak up for those who are often ignored: the multitude of coffee workers, the afflicted producers, and the people who refuse to give up and take action.
We create Red Ink Coffee as an independent medium. This means that we are not affiliated with any major player in the coffee market, the media market, or the political arena. Therefore, no one will censor our content on this site.
In fact, if we write about a competing commercial product on our pages and do not label it as a "sponsored post" or "self-promotion," it means that we like it and recommend it from the bottom of our hearts, without any other - other than social - interest.
We would like to have no advertising here, but that would require a commitment from readers in the form of a donation to maintain the site and the editorial staff, something we would like to avoid. That's why we allow ourselves to accept assignments to write articles for a fee to create a marketing effect for outside companies.
This does not change the fact that we will be writing about products that we do not recommend you buy or use, not to mention the fact that we may one day receive advertising offers and it won't happen. Our apologize, marketing departments....
However, Red Ink Coffee is not just a blog. It's also an educational platform.
We are of expanding the online learning section, with the aim of offering you the opportunity to learn more about the world of coffee and its various sectors using your computers and phones. This could provide you with the opportunity to acquire new skills and deepen your knowledge, which may in turn facilitate your career development, whether it be on your farm, in a coffee roaster, or in a coffee shop.

We also offer a range of courses and training. Some of them are our proprietary learning paths, while others are well-known - but independent of us - learning paths. Let's say something regarding those that are available stationary. We will try to make them take place as close to you as possible so that you can more easily participate in them. Many courses are also online, which is the easiest considering the distances separating us.
You will also find a wide range of consultations, very useful for the development of your business.
On this page, you'll also find all sorts of exciting events that we're planning just for coffee professionals and enthusiasts like you. We're talking everything from free webinars to fun themed meetings and cuppings, not to mention educational and touristic trips to places all over the world.
There is also a store. We ourselves can't yet predict what the assortment will be there. We have some ideas, and the first one we are implementing is digital products that will support our mission and educational and scientific goals.
We're working hard on the site, but we're also thinking about other projects we're planning or implementing. We've written about some of these projects in the Campaigns tab. We hope that some of you will be interested in helping us create these projects.
This article gives a brief overview of our motives and functionality of the Red Ink Coffee website. So we will not write much about The Better Coffee here. Be sure to read this ARTICLE, or you can go straight to White Paper.

We won't forcefully remind people of this everywhere, but the world needs The Better Coffee. We will want you, through reading our publications and deepening your knowledge with our education, to better understand why The Better Coffee is needed and be ready to drink it.
Finally, we respectfully request your understanding regarding one more matter. English is not a native language for most of us, and we are doing our best to follow the example of the old press in this regard. We use the help of a proofreader with language training, but it is not possible for one person to proofread all content. If you see any mistakes or something is unintelligible, we kindly ask you to write us in emails or comments, and we will correct it. We are committed to doing our best to avoid linguistic errors, and we are equally dedicated to being as factual as possible. We respectfully request your understanding and forgiveness in advance for any shortcomings.
