About the course

Green Coffee Professional is a four-day course designed for individuals seeking to acquire professional knowledge and skills in green coffee.It is part of the Coffee Skill Program educational system administered by the Specialty Coffee Association, and upon successful completion, participants receive certification.

Obtaining a Professional level certificate in the Green Coffee module is a prerequisite for obtaining SCA Skills Diplomas in three of the four areas: SCA Roastery Diploma, SCA Coffee Trade Diploma, SCA Sustainable Coffee Diploma.

In addition, earning the Green Coffee Professional certificate allows you to apply in the future for the opportunity to become an Authorized SCA Trainer and begin your professional adventure in coffee education.

Prerequisites for this course include a Green Coffee Intermediate diploma and the successful completion of Intermediate levels in Sensory Skills and Roasting. Additionally, the SCA advises that candidates have at least several months of professional or independent research experience.

The Green Coffee Professional course builds on the concepts and skills introduced in the Green Coffee Intermediate course, preparing students for leadership roles in green coffee-related professions or to start (grow) their own business. This course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of key aspects of coffee botany, climate change impacts, farm management, processing methodologies, common sensory defects, sample analysis, futures markets, company portfolio management and procurement planning, green coffee production cost factors, contracting issues, supplier evaluations, and third-party accreditations. In addition to deepening your knowledge, this course will enhance your sensory skills.
