The White Paper is not a manual. It is our deepest document — where the case for a paradigm shift in coffee is laid bare.
It names the fractures of the system we live in: specialty coffee as an extension of capitalism, adaptive liberalism, and colonial legacies. It traces their origins. It shows how profit has replaced values, how point systems and branding mask injustice, and how climate, labor, and dignity are all sacrificed to keep the machine running.
But it doesn’t stop at critique.
The White Paper proposes the values that must guide another future — dignity, equality, cooperation, mutual aid, ecological care.
The Better Coffee Standard you see here is its companion: the operational arm. If the White Paper is the map, The Standard is the road.
The White Paper will be released here in September.
It will be available to buy, and as always, fully accessible through the Pay-It-Forward model for anyone who needs it.
